Evokativ Special Edition

Libuše Jarcovjáková

The book Evokativ was more than just the debut title of the Untitled publishing house, it was the spark that launched Libuše Jarcovjáková into the global photographic stratosphere. Following its phenomenal success at the Les Rencontres d’Arles festival and a prestigious shortlist nomination for the Aperture PhotoBook of the Year, the standard edition of this title became an instantly sold-out cult classic, sought after by collectors worldwide.

With the original print run long exhausted, this special limited edition of only 30 copies represents the only remaining way to acquire this seminal work. It offers a rare opportunity to own a physical embodiment of raw, communist-era Prague and the unyielding personal freedom of an artist who lived every frame she captured. Each set is a masterful intersection of history and craft, featuring the signed and numbered book alongside an original photograph, Horse in the Wallenstein Garden, printed on premium FOMEI Collection Baryta MONO 290 paper.

The photograph Horse in the Wallenstein Garden was chosen for its deep symbolic weight. Taken in 1989, just before the Velvet Revolution, it marks a pivotal moment when Jarcovjáková—then living in Berlin—returned briefly to Prague to meet her partner. This encounter eventually led to her permanent return to Czechoslovakia in 1992.

The book and the photograph are stored in a box covered with red cloth and marked with an embossing stamp with the name Evokativ.

The book Evokativ was shortlisted for the 2019 Aperture PhotoBook Award ‘PhotoBook of the Year’.
