Supersonico²

Supersonico² offers a turbulent excursion into the unique world of photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková, guided by the bold, creative vision of curator and editor Lucie Černá. What began as an experiment has evolved into an open form, where decades-old photographs meet images captured just weeks before the book’s creation. Supersonico² sparks a vivid dialogue, revealing the depth and breadth of Jarcovjáková’s artistry.

The book is a playground for ideas, where boundaries can be stretched and reimagined. The compact world of Jarcovjáková’s photographs diverges and reconnects, communicates in unexpected ways, and embraces contradictions. Photography becomes a living medium, a personal statement, and a mapping of territory. Raw, sometimes unsharp black-and-white analogue images intermingle with color digital clusters and photographs taken with a mobile phone. The richness and diversity of the material, seemingly unrelated at first glance, forms a visual pilgrimage.

Supersonico is ongoing project focusing on showing different aspects of Jarcovjáková’s archive. Following the first Supersonico, published in 2022, the authors recognised the untapped potential of this ongoing project. Jarcovjáková’s photography invites exploration; Černá uncovers unexpected parallels, and together they craft a work imbued with a sense of play. Each book titled Supersonico serves as a unique platform, showcasing different photographs, graphic designs, and approaches.

Supersonico² shows new perspectives on Jarcovjáková’s photography and completes the idea of who the photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková is. A perceptive observer of her immediate surroundings, of consciously unconscious processes and the atmosphere of the moment.

Supersonico² will be released in November 2025.
